Privacy Policy

We collect only what the app needs to work:

• Account data — your email address, a hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself), your name, and your age (you must be 18+).
• Profile data — your bio, city, optional approximate location, activity level, allergy preferences, lifestyle flags (such as rescue volunteering or pet-friendly housing), and your profile photo.
• Phone number (optional) — if you choose to verify your phone, we store the verified number and a verification flag.
• Pet profiles — your pets' names, species, breeds, ages, personality tags, and photos.
• Photos you upload — profile and pet photos are stored on our servers and may be screened by an automated moderation service before publication.
• Activity data — your swipes (likes and passes), matches, chat messages, blocks, and reports you send or receive, plus basic timestamps such as account creation and last activity.
• Payment data — if you subscribe to Premium, our payment providers handle your card details; we never see or store them. We keep only your subscription status and a customer reference ID.

We do not collect data from third-party sources, and we do not buy or sell personal data.

• To create and operate your account and profile.
• To show you to other members and power matching and chat.
• To verify your phone number, where you opt in.
• To process Premium subscriptions, where payments are enabled.
• To keep the community safe: screening uploaded images, handling reports and blocks, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
• To send essential service emails, such as password resets.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not run third-party ad trackers or analytics.

Where enabled, we share the minimum data necessary with these providers, who process it on our behalf:

• Stripe and/or RevenueCat — subscription payments and billing. They receive what is needed to process your payment; card details go directly to them.
• Twilio — phone verification. Your phone number is sent to Twilio to deliver a verification code.
• Sightengine — automated image moderation. Photos you upload may be sent for screening before they appear on your profile.
• Email delivery provider — transactional emails such as password-reset links.
• Hosting provider — the infrastructure the app and its database run on.

We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect the safety of our members.

PetVerse uses a single, signed session cookie to keep you logged in. It is HTTP-only, expires after 30 days, and contains no tracking information. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers of any kind.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from your profile settings; this removes your profile, pets, photos, swipes, matches, and messages. We may retain limited records (for example, reports relevant to safety investigations) where we have a legal obligation or legitimate safety need to do so.

Depending on where you live — including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) — you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data (most of it directly in your profile).
• Delete your account and data.
• Receive an export of your data in a portable format.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Passwords are stored as salted hashes, sessions are cryptographically signed, password-reset tokens are hashed and short-lived, and uploads are validated and screened. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

PetVerse is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete the account.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
